Posts: 714 09/07/09 11:07:17	Tags : None I've been gone from the forum for a while now, and I was shocked to find that in all the latest posts I've read that nobody has the Sabres making the playoffs this year. What happened in the last few weeks? Mair went down but did Miller retire? Connolly and Pommer traded to the islanders for a sack of potatoes? I think that this team will make the playoffs as a 6th seed or so, and then maybe make a decent run, but be in an even better spot next year when some of our dead weight contracts are done with. Horray for optimism.

Posts: 702 09/07/09 11:50:13	This while thing may work to the Sabres advantage because most teams won't be gunning for them and many may in fact underestimate them. Many forget that at the start of the 05/06 season the Sabres were predicted to finish dead last in the conference and some had them predicted to be dead last in the whole league. We were one ankle infection away from the Stanley Cup finals and while we can never be sure of what would have happened, we could have beaten those Oilers. The thing about that year was that everyone had great chemistry, everyone played with confidence and everyone played "better" than their natural talent level. In essence, the whole end up being much much greater than the sum of it's parts. That's what we need this year. We need Macarthur to score 25 goals, Stafford to score 35, Roy to score 100 (or close to) points and Vanek to pot 50 goals. We need Connolly to play >75 games and Pomminville to put in between 30 and 40. We need the 05/06 Miller. We need the 05/06 Lydman and Tallinder. We need Sekera to turn into the Campbell that he's supposed to. We need Rivet to whoop ass. In other words, we really need to catch lightning in a bottle.

I don't see why they couldn't keep the old format and still just connect all the boards and add a couple things. Like the cliche says, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I can't wait until October and the games start up, and maybe then I'll be around here more, but until then, it just hurts my eyes having to look at all this white +$@*.
